Gerald Coetzee to replace Liam Livingstone for Rajasthan Royals
2 time South Africa U-19 World Cup player Gerald Coetzee is set to replace England all-rounder Liam Livingstone in the Rajasthan Royals camp. Liam Livingstone left the Royals citing bio-bubble fatigue as the reason.
Royals named the 20-year-old South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee as a replacement for Liam Livingstone. The Proteas pacer has landed in India and finished his quarantine, and trained with the Royals squad on Saturday.
The Proteas pacer played 8 T20 matches and picked 9 wickets at an average of 23.33 at an economy rate of 7.68. He also has a knack of delivering with the bat down the order when required.
Coetzee was a part of South U-19 World Cup in 2020 led by Bryce Parsons. He was also a part of the South Africa U-19 team for the World Cup 2018 edition led by wicket keeper batsman Wandile Makwetu.
Royals are the severely hit franchise with the exit of their overseas players. They already lost Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Liam Livingstone and Andrew Tye. Their current overseas players are Jos Buttler (England), David Miller (South Africa), Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh) and Chris Morris (South Africa).
Ben Stokes was replaced by Rassie van der Dussen but it was told that he won’t be a part of IPL 2021 as Cricket South Africa has not given the No Objection Certificate because of injury concerns.
Rajasthan Royals are currently languishing at No.7 in the points table as they face the No.8 team Sunrisers Hyderabad on 2nd May.
My dream team will feature Marcus Trescothick and Anil Kumble
