Jason Roy replaces Mitchell Marsh in SRH for IPL 2021
Sunrisers Hyderabad roped in England batsman Jason Roy to replace Mitchell Marsh for the 2021 edition of Indian Premier League. Mitchell Marsh pulled out of IPL citing reason of bi-secure bubble fatigue and informed his decision to BCCI and SRH few days ago.
Marsh who was bought by SRH for a base price of 2 crore INR in the 2020 auction lasted just a few moments on the field before sustaining ankle injury (twisted during bowling) against RCB last year.
Jason Holder replaced the Australian all-rounder eventually and made it to the main team after some crucial performances.
Jason Roy who was in at a base price of 2 crore INR went unsold in the IPL 2021 Auction. He now joins his countryman and fellow opener Jonny Bairstow in the Orange Army!
Jason Roy who replaced Marsh, made his IPL debut in 2017 representing Gujarat Lions under the leadership of Suresh Raina. He was then signed by Delhi Daredevils.
Roy featured in 8 IPL matches scoring 179 runs at an average of 29.83. His highest score of 91* came in a winning cause for Daredevils. He holds a IPL strike rate of 133.58.
Roy has played T20 cricketer around the world in tournaments like PSL, BBL, BPL etc. He scored over 6000 runs in 235 matches at an average of 27.78 with 4 centuries and 40 half centuries. His career strike rate of 142.47 is quite impressive.
Sunrisers Hyderabad now have David Warner, Kane Williamson, Jonny Baistrow, Jason Roy, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Jason Holder as their overseas players.
Sunrisers Hyderabad play their first match against Kolkata Knight Riders on the 11th April, 2021. This match will take place at Chennai from 7:30pm IST.
