Michael Hussey tested positive for Covid-19
Former Australian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey tested positive for COVID-19 inside the IPL bubble. It was told that Hussey reported for borderline symptoms but will stay in isolation for a minimum of 10 days at the team hotel in New Delhi.
CSK coaching staff has already been hit by the pandemic as bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji tested positive few days ago. Apparently Michael Hussey was L Balaji’s partner on the team bus.
With Hussey having to serve his 10 day isolation period, he won’t be able to join the rest of the Australian contingent, when they relocate to either the Maldives or Sri Lanka in the coming days as per a plan drafted together by Cricket Australia and the BCCI.
Currently Australia’s borders are closed to anyone who has been in India in the last few weeks.
“We’ve spoken to Mike today. He is in good spirits. His symptoms are relatively mild. He is in a stint of isolation in his hotel room. He has good support systems around him.” ,” Todd Greenberg, the chief executive of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, said.
Michael Hussey previously played for Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians scoring 1977 runs at an average of 38.76 powered by a decent strike rate of 122.64 in 59 matches. He recorded the first century for CSK in IPL history (116* vs Kings XI Punjab). He scored 1 century and 15 half centuries in IPL history.
The tournament took a jolt when Kolkata Knight Riders cricketers Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier tested positive after returning from scans.
BCCI decided to postpone the tournament after Wriddhiman Saha of SRH and Amit Mishra of Delhi Capitals tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
