I am going with Steve Smith as my captain because of the batting form he displayed in the 1st ODI. He looks in a different zone in this series and he might continue to create problems for Indian bowlers. I am also backing David Warner for the 2nd consecutive time over Aaron Finch. He will be my vice captain choice. Batting wise I went Australia heavy as in this ODI as well as they are high on confidence after their first outing.
Surprisingly I dropped 2 top stars of India – Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Other than budget constraints on Dream11, the reason I avoided Virat is because he scored at an average of 11.40 in Sydney Cricket Ground in the 6 innings he played. With a highest score of just 21 and strike rate of 64.04.
Bowling wise I went with Mitchell Starc for his death bowling potential though he got clobbered in the 1st ODI. I have a feeling Australia will play out Jasprit Bumrah and that would increase chances of getting wickets for other bowlers especially Mohammed Shami – hence I dropped Jasprit Bumrah for the 2nd time in a row. Adam Zampa created problems for the Indian batting unit and he was a easy go to choice. Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins are other choices to ponder as they bowled better than Starc in the 1st match.
With Marcus Stoinis being a doubtful starter I opted for 3 all rounders in Hardik Pandya (might not bowl), Ravindra Jadeja (conditions favorable for him) and Glenn Maxwell (irresistible choice after 1st ODI)
