The Story behind Sreesanth’s new jersey number 369

Shanthakumaran Sreesanth made his return to professional cricket after 7 and half years and he has displayed the same passion and enthusiasm with the ball. What changed though was his jersey number.

Sreesanth who donned the jersey number 36 all these years even while representing Team India – now has added an additional number to his jersey. The number ‘9’. The Kerala pacer was seen sporting the jersey number 369 in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament and here is the reason why:

Sreesanth explains the jersey number change

In an interview to a popular news channel said he added number 9 to his existing jersey number as his daughter was born on the 9th of May. Also his wife’s nick name is Nayan and it sounds like nine – so further more reason for his new jersey number.

“This time I will be wearing jersey number 369 instead of 36. 9 because my daughter Srisanvika was born on May 9. Srisanvika means Lakshmi. Everyone knows my wife’s name, Bhuvneshwari Kumar is called at home ‘Nayan’. So it sounds like 9. The is the reason I have decided to wear jersey numbver 369.” explained Sreesanth.
