New Zealand ODI squad announced – Conway, Young, Mitchell earn calls

On Wednesday, New Zealand have announced their 13 members squad for 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh. Kane Williamson will miss the series due to his elbow injury as Tom Latham, who will be playing his 100th game for Blackcaps will lead his side. First match of the series will be played on 20th March at Dunedin.

Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham (c) (wk), Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Will Young

“Devon, Will and Daryl are quality players and have enjoyed impressive seasons so far, and we’re looking forward to giving them further opportunities to develop their game at this level,” selector Gavin Larsen said on Wednesday


Devon Conway, Will Young and Daryl Mitchell got their maiden calls for ODI series as per their performances in the recent tour against Australia. Conwoy recently scored a unbeaten 99 against Australia while will Young scored two One Day hundreds for New Zealand XI against Australia XI.

“The bowling group is a strong and experienced one and will be well complemented by the two seam-bowling all-rounders in Jimmy and Daryl. We’ve also taken the decision to carry just the one spinner in the squad, which is a reflection of the venues for this series and expected pitch conditions. It’s great to have Bangladesh on our shores and we know they’ll bring a lot to the series,” Larsen added.

1st ODI – March 20 – University Oval, Dunedin – 3:30am IST | 11am Local Time

2nd ODI – March 23 – Hagley Oval, Christchurch – 6:30 am IST | 2pm Local Time

3rd ODI – March 26 – Basin Reserve, Wellington – 3:30am IST | 11am Local Time
