Former England Cricketer tweets in support of Narendra Modi government

There is currently a wide spread farmer protests happening over the Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020. Meanwhile former England spinner Monty Panesar took to twitter to tweet in support of Narendra Modi government over the issue. The tweet depicted the benefits of the new bill that has attracted outrage from the farmer’s community.

Monty Panesar represented England in 77 International matches and has 193 wickets to his name. The left arm spinner posted 2 tweets in support of the bill and his responders were left confused. Most of the comments suggested the cricketer’s twitter account could have been hacked.

Earlier Indian prime minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the opposition which vehemently protested the Bills, saying many governments had come to power in the States and at the Centre over the decades in the name of farmers and workers, “but what did they get—nothing; just a web of promises that neither the farmers understood nor the workers.”

Many celebrities were vocal about the current situation of farmers while some engaged in twitter battles debating the concerns. Amidst heavy backlash from the farmers of Punjab, a series of Monty Panesar tweets left the fans divided over the farmers bill.

One wonders if this a original opinion of the cricketer or a PR stunt. What’s your say?
