Sri Lanka squad against India announced

Sri Lanka announced a 24-member squad for the white ball series against Team India. The squad includes three uncapped players – Shiran Fernando, Ishan Jayratne and Lahiru Udara.

The squad is led by allrounder Dasun Shanaka and is missing star players Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Perera and Suranga Lakmal who withdrew from the series on personal and fitness grounds.

Dhananjaya de Silva has been named the vice-captain of the team.

The ODI series begins on July 18 at Colombo. The T20I series will start from July 25. All the 3 ODIs and T20Is will be played at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Dasun Shanaka (c), Dhananjaya De Silva, Avishka Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Ashen Bandara, Minod Bhanuka, Lahiru Udara, Ramesh Mendis, Chamika Karunaratne, Binura Fernando (only for T20I series), Dushmantha Chameera, Lakshan Sandakan, Akila Dananjaya, Shiran Fernando, Dhananjaya Lakshan, Ishan Jayaratne, Praveen Jayawickrama, Asitha Fernando, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara, Isuru Udana

Uncapped player 27- year-old Lahiru Udara has an impressive strike rate of 135.87 in the 34 T20 matches he played so far. Pacer Shiran Fernando averages 14.81 in 14 T20s while another uncapped cricketeer Ishan Jayratne is an allrounder wth a strike rate of 149.84 with the bat and averages 16.86 with the ball in 51 T20s he played.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who last played a T20I against India in Indore in 2020, also finds a place in the squad along with Lahiru Kumara, who last featured in a limited-overs contest for Sri Lanka in 2020. Kasun Rajitha too makes a comeback in both squads after a gap of more than year in limited-overs cricket.

The ODIs will begin at 3pm IST while the T20Is will start at 8pm IST. The live telecast in India is on Sony Sports and live streaming will be available on Sony Liv app.
