List of Cricket South Africa Contracts – Faf du Plessis misses out

Cricket South Africa contracts were announced for men and women’s cricketers on Tuesday, 16 March 2021. The list is very similar to the last year’s, sparring one change each.

Veteran batsman Faf du Plessis who recently retired from Test Cricket misses out on Cricket South Africa contract while Heinrich Klaasen got his contract. The wicket-keeper batsman was a feature of Proteas white ball matches and looks like one of the prominent members to watch out for in pursuit of limited overs cricket ambitions.

In Women’s contracted players list – Lara Goodall who helped South Afria Women clinch ODI series against India women with her unbeaten knock of 59 made it to the list which looked almost unchanged.

“We are about to enter into a very important cricket season with World Cup events for both the men’s and the women’s teams, and we are confident that we have the correct personnel and necessary depth within the system to produce teams that will challenge the best in the world in the coming 12 months,” CSA’s acting chief executive Pholetsi Moseki said.

“We are confident that the number of selected players for both the men’s and women’s teams is sufficient to maintain them across the formats in which they participate,” Moseki was quoted as saying.

Men’s T20 World Cups will be played in India in October and November and in the same months in Australia next year. On current form, the women will be among the strongest teams at the ODI World Cup in New Zealand in March and April next year.
