Robin Jackman dies at 75
India-born England cricketer Robin Jackman passed away at the age of 75. Jackman well known for cricket lovers as a commentator for South Africa cricket, was reportedly diagnosed with throat cancer in 2012 and had undergone two operations to remove malignant tumours from his vocal cords.
He passed away at 3.30pm South Africa time on Christmas Day, and is survived by his wife Yvonne and two daughters
ICC announced the news of Robin Jackman on social media. “We are saddened to learn about the death of legendary commentator and former England bowler Robin Jackman, who has passed away aged 75. The thoughts of the cricketing world go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Jackman was born in Shimla in 1945 when the city was under the state of Punjab. He went on to play first class cricket for Surrey – scoring 5681 runs and taking a massive 1402 wickets at an impressive average of 22.80. Robin known for his fast bowling all rounder skills scored 1564 List A runs and took 439 wickets in the format. He represented England in 4 Tests and 15 ODIs – taking a total of 33 wickets.
Post retirement Jackman took up the role of a broadcaster and was the voice of South Africa cricketer for many years.
