Jacques Kallis joins England camp as batting consultant
England have roped in cricketing legend Jacques Kallis as their batting consultant for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. England is set to play 2 Tests early next year against the island nation. Kallis had previously donned a similar role with the South African cricket team.
The former Proteas all rounder has a prolific Test batting average of 55.62 in the sub-continent with 8 centuries while his average dipped to just over 35 in Sri Lanka with no centuries to his name.
Jaqcues Kallis was known for his sound technique and the England camp would love for him to spread his knowledge on to their new generation of cricketers. Assistant coach Graham Thorpe is not travelling with team to Sri Lanka. The other coaching staff under head coach Chris Silverwood includes – Jon Lewis (fast bowling consultant), Jeetan Patel (spin bowling consultant) and James Foster (wicket keeping consultant)
England are set to leave for Sri Lanka on January 2, 2021. The new mutant variant of coronavirus has given rise to speculations on the feasibility of the tour as countries are sealing their boundary to travelers from the United Kingdom.
The first Test between Sri Lanka and England will take place in Galle which begins from January 14, 2021. The second Test which begins from January 22 will also take place at the same venue.
My dream team will feature Marcus Trescothick and Anil Kumble
