LSG vs RR – IPL 2022 Report: Thunder Boult too hot for LSG!
CSK vs GT, Match 62 – IPL 2022 Report: Rajasthan Royals chose to bat first at the toss while Lucknow skipper KL Rahul said he would have bowled. RR faced a big blow when Avesh Khan bowled out Buttler for 2 with the score on 11 runs in 2.2 overs.
Captain Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal recorded 64-run stand in 6.3 overs to propel RR to dominating position. Jason Holder who has an impeccable record against Samson removed him for 32 runs but Devdutt Padikkal had his intentions clear as he smacked a boundary the first ball he faced to open his account.
Jaiswal fell in the 12th over to Ayush Badoni who bowled a solitary over and conceded just 6 runs. 21 runs later – Padikkal fell to Ravi Bishnoi attempting a slog over deep mid-wicket. Bishnoi picked his 2nd wicket in the form of Riyan Parag and three balls later he ran out Jimmy Neesham reducing RR to 152/6 in 17.4 overs.
R Ashwin and Trent Boult powered the team to 178/6 in 20 overs with Boult recording his first 2 fours in his IPL career as he accumulated a crucial 17* in just 9 balls! The duo put on an unbeaten partnership of 26 runs in just 2.2 overs.
Chasing 179 runs to win, LSG faced a double blow when Trent Boult removed Quinton de Kock and Ayush Badoni in back-to-back deliveries reducing them to 15/2 in 2.2 overs. 3 overs later KL Rahyl fell to Prasidh Krishna (29/3 in 5.3 overs) – leaving the team in disarray!
Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya put on a much needed 65-run stand in 7.4 overs before Krunal was dismissed by R Ashwin – as Jos Buttler and Riyan Parag completed a clean relay catch at the boundary. Hooda recorded yet another half-century this season before being stumped off Yuzvendra Chahal’s bowling. Windies pacer Obed McCoy removed all-rounders Jason Holder and Dishmantha Chameera in a span of 3 deliveries to push LSG to deeper trouble. McCoy struggled with discomfort in his foot but gathered all his strength to finish his quota of overs! The required run rate went out of control and Marcus Stoinis tried his best but of no avail.
RR clinched the match by 24 runs and entered the Top 2 on IPL 2022 Points table.
