CSK vs KKR: IPL Final Report – CSK IPL 2021 champions!
IPL Final 2021 Toss: KKR won the toss and elect to bowl
CSK squashed KKR by 27 runs in the IPL 2021 final. After being put to bat first – CSK openers set a solid foundation with a 61 run opening stand in 8.1 overs. Robin Uthappa walked in at no.3 for Chennai and spanked a 15 ball 31 which took KKR by surprise. CSK were 124-2 in 13.3 overs at Uthappa’s exit. Moeen Ali accelerated the CSK progress with an unbeaten 37 in 20 balls. He along with Faf du Plessis put on a 68 run stand in 39 balls to post a daunting target of 193 runs to win in the IPL final.
KKR got a good start – thanks yet again to a opening stand of 91 runs in 10.4 overs between Venkatesh Iyer (50) and Shubman Gill (51), who were playing their maiden IPL final. Both KKR openers registered half centuries before departing. The brilliant start provided by the openers was thrown away as KKR middle order stumbled once again – Nitish Rana 0 (1), Sunil Narine 2 (2), Eoin Morgan 4 (8), Dinesh Karthik 9 (7), Shakib Al Hasan 0 (10) and Rahul Tripathi 2 (3) – stooped KKR to 125-8 in no time!
Some late over batting sparks from Lockie Ferguson and Shivam Mavi helped KKR end with a score of 165-9 in 20 overs.
