Virat Kohli to step down from captaincy after T20 World Cup

Indian captain Virat Kohli announced he will be stepping down from captaincy in T20 format for Team India. Kohli led Team India in 45 matches and will lead the team until the end of T20 World Cup in UAE.

Virat announced his decision on his social media handle:

The right-handed batsman scored 1502 runs in 43 innings as a captain at an average of 48.45 powered by a strike rate of 143.18. He scored 12 fifties in his T20I career as a captain.

India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign when they take on Pakistan on October 24. This is Virat Kohli’s first ever stint as a captain in T20 World Cup.

Kohli led India in 45 matches – out of which India won 27 times. Kohli’s batting average jumps to 57.76 when India ended on the victorious side.
