R Ashwin takes a break from IPL 2021
Delhi Capitals off-spinner R Ashwin has declared that he will be taking a break from IPL 2021 after the match against SRH โ to support his family and extended family during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Delhi bowling all-rounder announced his decision post a super over victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chennai. Chennai being his hometown, he will stay back and see through the needs of his family. He also announced that he can get back to play for Delhi Capitals if all is well with his family.
Delhi Capitals will now move to Ahmedabad to play their next set of matches.
R Ashwin announced his decision on social media:
Ravichandran Ashwin is in middle of a bad season picking just 1 wicket in 5 matches at an average of 147.00. Last season he picked 13 wickets for Delhi Capitals in 15 matches and was one of their main weapons in the powerplay and middle overs.
R Ashwin has 139 IPL wickets to his name at an average of 27.68 with an economy rate of 6.90.
Delhi has Lalit Yadav in their ranks who bowled in the absence of Axar Patel. They also have Manimaran Siddharth who can take up the spin duties in the absence of R Ashwin.
