RCB v RR: Top 5 Performers of the Match!

Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their fourth consecutive win of the season to top the IPL 2021 table after 16 matches point. A spirited effort by  Mohammed Siraj and Kyle Jamieson in the powerplay reduced Royals to 18-3 but it  was the southpaw combo of Shivam Dube and Rahul Tewatia which helped the team to 177/9.

RCB chased down the target in just 16.3 overs and clinched the match by 10 wickets thanks to the opening pair of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal.

Here are our Top 5 performers from the RCB v RR fixture:

RCB pacer Siraj was in absolute rhythm as he trounced Jos Buttler (8) and David Miller (0) in a splendid fashion in the powerplay. He later got the wicket of Rahul Tewatia in the death overs.

Dube walked in to bat when Rajasthan were struggling at 18-3 in 4.3 overs. Dube put on a 66-run stand with Riyan Parag for the 5th wicket which helped RR to 109-5 at the fall of Parag in 13.3 overs.

Shivam Dube scored 46 runs in 32 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes as it comes as a huge positive for Royals who had troubles with middle order leading up to this match.

Rahul Tewatia – 40 (23)

PC: BCCI/IPL

The Royals all-rounder found his mojo as he spanked 40 runs in 23 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.

His knock was instrumental in Royals reaching a score of 177-9 in 20 overs in the end.

Devdutt Padikkal – 101*(52)

PC: BCCI/IPL

After missing the first match of the IPL 2021 due to recovery from COVID-19, Devdutt Padikkal didn’t look at his best at Chennai. Change of venue- change of wicket and boy! He delivered!

Padikkal who scored a 27-ball half century followed it up with a 51-ball century with the help of 11 fours and 6 sixes. He put on a 181 run stand with captain Virat Kohli which helped his team to a 10 wicket win against Royals.

Padikkal was adjudged the Man of the Match for his performance.

Virat Kohli – 72*(47)

RCB v RR - CAPTAIN VIRAT KOHLI
PC: BCCI/IPL

Captain Kohli scored his first half century of IPL 2021 as he remained unbeaten on 72 runs in 47 balls with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes.
