IPL 2021: Top 5 West Indies cricketers to watch out for!

Indian Premier League and West Indies cricketers have a inarticulate bond. It was an instant bond since the first season. It just got better and better with each season. Caribbean youngsters turned superstars and superstars turned legends in this tournament. The IPL 2021 season also show cases some rich West Indian talent and surely and definitely watch out for the new celebratory moves.

Here is the list of 5 West Indies Cricketers you should watch out for in IPL 2021:

Kieron Pollard (MI)

Pollard took his form level to another level post the lockdown. He inspired Trinbago Knightriders to tournament win and led Mumbai Indians briefly in crucial matches in absence of Rohit Sharma in IPL 2020.

The West Indies all-rounder’s batting form is red hot and he topped it all with a 6 Sixes in an over during the T20I series against Sri Lanka. He can even chip in when required with the ball and watch out for his breath-taking saves and catches near the rope.

Pollard bats for Mumbai Indians at No.5-6 and walks up and down the order as per the situational demand.

Nicholas Pooran

Pooran is destined to greatness and he makes a statement each season. The West Indies wicket-keeper batsman who plays for Punjab Kings has already struck match snatching knocks against teams world over and his talent could meet just the right stage this season.

The tournament already boasts some exciting young wicket keeper batsmen in Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Finn Allen etc. and with the Caribbean flavor added – Pooran is a treat to watch out for. Those long Sixes are coming!

Nicholas Pooran is generally slotted at No.4 in Punjab Kings batting order and if need be he might go down a notch to help them in the finishing role.

Chris Gayle (PBKS)

If we learnt something from the past few IPL seasons, that is never rule out the Universe Boss. Despite form leading in to the tournament, Gayle always seems to find his way to play some destructive knocks season after season.

He is just one six away from the 350 sixes land mark while the 2nd best is AB de Villiers with 235 tournament sixes. There will be no short of entertainment when the 41 year young Christopher Henry Gayle is on the field. Brace yourself for yet another Gaylestorm!

The legendary West Indian bats at No.3 for Punjab Kings but many experts want to see him open the batting in the powerplay!

Jason Holder (SRH)

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s X-factor from previous IPL season, the West Indies all-rounder seemed to have taken his T20 game seriously and it was quite evident the way he approached it. His batting averages took a hike and the bowling in the powerplay and death overs are turning to be quite potent!

This exciting talent has become the crux of SRH middle order and his vital contributions with the new ball add to their already efficacious bowling arsenal.

The Barbadian bats at No.5-6 as per the situation and opens with the new ball and likely to bowl a over or two at the death.

Andre Russell (KKR)

(PC: BCCI)

KKR giant Andre Russell is due for a big season after a dismal show last season in UAE. He scored just 117 runs in 10 matches facing just 81 balls despite batting in the top order for a substantial number of matches.

The 2019 season MVP would look to replicate his heroics which would help the team’s cause massively. All eyes on Russell to see if he can change his fortunes this season!

Andre Russell was tried at the top but has not been as successful last season. He usually excelled in the past at No.5-6 role when the team had less than 10 overs to go. He is likely to walk in to bat despite the number of wickets fallen as and when the team needs to accelerate.
