West Indies Test Squad for first Test announced

West Indies announced 13 member squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka under the leadership of Kraigg Brathwaite with Jermaine Blackwood as his deputy. The West Indies Test squad sees the return of Jason Holder and Darren Bravo back in the fold.

Test batting stars from Bangladesh Nkrumah Bonner, Kyle Mayers and Joshua Da Silva retained their spots as spinners Jomel Warrican and Rahkeem Cornwall also made it to the 13 member squad for the first Test. All-rounder Roston Chase was named as one of the 3 reserves alongside Chemar Holder and Jahmar Hamilton.

West Indies Squad for 1st Test:

Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), Jermaine Blackwood (vice-captain), Nkrumah Bonner, Darren Bravo, John Campbell, Rahkeem Cornwall, Joshua Da Silva, Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kyle Mayers, Kemar Roach, Jomel Warrican

Reserves: Jahmar Hamilton, Chemar Holder, Roston Chase

“A number of players seized the opportunity that the tour of Bangladesh presented and booked a place for themselves in the Test team for this series. This now means that there is keen competition for places which should drive better individual performances and that of the team. I also think that these players are looking forward to displaying their skills on home soil,” lead selector Roger Harper said.

The first Test between West Indies and Sri Lanka will be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium from March 21-25.
