India announce Test squad against England

Team India has announced a 17 member squad for the first 2 Tests against England in the upcoming 4 match home series. Virat Kohli will be leading the team which also sees the return of Hardik Pandya.

Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Rishabh Pant, Wriddhiman Saha, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel

The squad sees the return of Ishant Sharma and Hardik Pandya. Axar Patel is added in as the spinning all-rounder to fill the void left by Ravindra Jadeja. Brisbane Test heroes Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar have retained their spot in the squad.

T Natarajan and Hanuma Vihari are among the players missing out along with Ravindra Jadeja from the squad which toured Australia.

The series kicks off with the first Test on February 5th at Chennai. The second Test is also played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai starting from February 13. The teams then move to Motera’s Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad for the third and fourth Tests which are scheduled on February 24th and March 4th respectively.
