Cricket Australia Awards 2022 – Winners Announced

Cricket Australia Awards were announced on Saturday, January 29th in a broadcast-only ceremony. Mitchell Starc clinched the Allan Border medal for the first time while Ashleigh Gardner became the first-time recipient of the Belinda Clark Award.

The Allan Border Medal and Belinda Clark Award are synonymous to Australian Cricketer of the Year.

Mitchell Starc beat Mitchell Marsh by just one point to claim the Allan Border Medal this year. He is now the fifth pacer after Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson and Pat Cummins to grab this medal. The left-arm-pacer also won the ODI Player of the Year award.

In the Women’s category, Ashleigh Gardner beat Beth Mooney by seven votes to clinch the Belinda Clark Award. In other awards, Alyssa Healy won the Female ODI Player of the Year award for the third year in a row.

Meanwhile coach Justin Langer and former Australian Women’s captain Raelee Thompson got inducted in to the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.

Travis Head won the Male Test Player of the Year and Domestic Player of the Year Awards. Head was the Player of the Series in the recently concluded Ashes series. Elyse Villani bagged the Female Domestic Player of the Year award.

The Man of the Match in the final of T20 World Cup, Mitchell Marsh bagged the male T20I Player of the Year award.
