England vs South Africa: Super 12, Match 39 Report – Rabada hat-trick dictates end game!

England vs South Africa Toss: England won the toss and elect to bowl

South Africa ended their World Cup campaign on a winning note but that was not enough to carry them through to the semis though they tied on the points table with both Australia and England. England finished as table toppers while Australia finished 2nd after a fine win against West Indies in the afternoon fixture.

Earlier England won the toss and put South Africa to bat as we got to witness some spectacular knocks from Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram which helped the Proteas to set up a target of 190 runs to win.

Table toppers England started well but got a huge blow in the form of Jason Roy who suffered a calf injury which ruled him out of the remainder of the match and possibly the tourney. Some huge blows from Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone in the end overs took England close to the target. South Africa needed to defend 14 runs in the final over with Eoin Morgan and Chris Woakes at the crease. Enter Kagiso Rabada (3-0-45-0) – who struck thrice in three balls to register the third hat-trick of T20 World Cup 2021. Curtis Campher and Wanindu Hasaranga produced the previous two hat-tricks this edition.

Rabada conceded just 3 runs in the final over and picked 3 wickets to help his team to a 10 run win. He finished with bowling figures of 4-0-48-3.
