West Indies ODI squad against Australia announced!
West Indies will face Australia in 5 T20 Internationals and 3 ODIs from July 9 to July 24 as a part of the home schedule featuring South Africa, Australia and Pakistan. A 15-member West Indies ODI squad has been announced to face Aussies in 3 match series to be played at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
The 15-member squad is led by Kieron Pollard with Shai Hope named as his deputy. The team sees the return of Shimron Hetmyer in to the ODI fold after missing out on the Sri Lankan series due to fitness concerns.
Roston Chase and Sheldon Cottrell are also named in the ODI squad alongside medium pacer Anderson Philip who featured in just 1 ODI for West Indies.
West Indies ODI squad:
Kieron Pollard (Captain), Shai Hope (Vice Captain), Fabian Allen, Darren Bravo, Roston Chase, Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Anderson Philip, Nicholas Pooran, Romario Shepherd
“This squad is coming off a comprehensive series win against Sri Lanka which should boost their confidence going into what is expected to be a tougher contest against Australia. The return of Shimron Hetmyer, Roston Chase and Sheldon Cottrell adds greater depth and experience to the squad.”, Roger Harper, Lead Selector said.
The first ODI will be played on July 20 after a 5 match T20I series which will be played at Daren Sammy Stadium at St Lucia. The second ODI is scheduled to be played on July 22 and the final ODI is scheduled to be played on July 24. All the 3 ODIs are a part of CC World Cup Super League.
