South Africa announce Test squad against West Indies
Cricket South Africa announced 19 member Test squad to tour West Indies. South Africa will face West Indies in 2 Tests before heading on to 5 T20I series in the Caribbean islands.
Daren Sammy Stadium at St Lucia will host both the Tests while Grenada National Cricket Stadium will host the five match T20I series.
The squad of 19 will be led by Dean Elgar with regulars like Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Keshav Maharaj in the squad.
The recent Mumbai Indian sign up Marco Jansen also made the squad of 19 alongside 31 year old Sarel Erwee who was impressive in the provisional cricket. The squad also got the likes of George Linde and Tabraiz Shamsi who can provide spin options alongside Keshav Maharaj.
Lungi Ngidi also made the cut along with Beuran Hendricks and Lizaad Williams to boost the pace options.
The first Test will begin on June 10 while the second Test is scheduled to start on June 18.
South Africa is currently ranked No.7 in the ICC Test rankings with 80 points just below West Indies (84 points). A Test series win will guarantee South Africa the No.6 spot in the points table.
