CPL 2021: St Lucia Zouks Full Squad
St Lucia Zouks roped in 10 players in the CPL 2021 draft to finish their squad of 17. Each team is allowed to pick a maximum of 17 players including a maximum of 5 overseas cricketers. Zouks retained as many as 7 players going in to the draft after assigning the role of T20 Consultant and Brand Ambassador to Daren Sammy.
Proteas cricketer Faf du Plessis was roped in for the new season alongside overseas players Matthew Wade (Australia), Samit Patel (England). 2 Pakistanis Wahab Riaz and Usman Qadir also made the cut.
At the domestic front, Zouks roped in Keemo Paul who represented Guyana Amazon Warriors last season. Also in is West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph who had a dismal season last year for St Kitts and Nevis. Joseph picked 27 wickets in 26 T20 matches with a best of 6-12 while playing for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League tourney!
31-year-old Keron Cottoy is signed up in the draft. Cottoy known for his all-round abilities will try to fill in the void left by Daren Sammy. Zouks also added 22-year-old Jeavor Royal who can contribute with his spin bowling skills. Finally 20-year-old Barbadian cricketer Kadeem Alleyne made it to the squad.
Zouks pace battery is strong with the presence of Wahab Riaz, Obed McCoy, Kesrick Williams and Alzarri Joseph. While Keemo Paul’s all-round abilities can come in handy alongside spin bowling all-rounders Rahkeem Cornwall and Roston Chase.
The presence of Mark Deyal will add a spark to the unit as the 28-year-old impressed every one in all 3 departments last season. Spiceman Andre Fletcher at the top gives them the strike power with the calm presence of Faf du Plessis ensuring the required run flow.
St Lucia Zouks finished runner-ups last season and would like to go one up for a title win this time round.
