West Indies T20I squad announced for home series

Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced 18 member provisional West Indies T20I squad for the upcoming home series against South Africa, Australia and Pakistan. The squad is led by Kieron Pollard with Nicholas Pooran as his deputy.

West Indies will host South Africa, Australia and Pakistan in back-to-back visits from June to August 2021. They would play 5 matches each against their opponents leading to CPL 2021 followed by ICC T20 World Cup.

The team retained pacer Fidel Edwards who made his West Indies come back at the age of 39. The squad also sees the return of Sheldon Cottrell and Shimron Hetmyer who have missed out on the previous selection.

World Class talents Chris Gayle and Andre Russell have been named in the squad keeping the T20 World Cup plans in mind. There is no presence of Sunil Narine yet in the squad line up.

The spin attack is steered by Fabian Allen, Kevin Sinclair, Akeal Hosein and Hayden Walsh Jr., while the pace bowling attack comprises of Oshane Thomas, Jason Holder, Obed McCoy, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo and Fidel Edwards.
