Team India squad for World Test Championship Final announced
Team India announced Virat Kohli led 20-member squad for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in June and the subsequent series against England from August. The squad is also assisted by a 4-member reserve team as stand by.
India and New Zealand finished the top of points table to qualify for the in augural World Test Championship final in England.
The squad is expected to leave by June 2nd keeping in mind the Covid-19 protocols and the length of the tour. India will play the WTC final from June 18 to 22 in Southampton and the Test series against England from August 4, starting in Nottingham, to September 14, with the last Test scheduled for Manchester.
Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan missed the cut in the squad. Spinners R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar were named in the squad of 20.
The squad has opening options in the form of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal while the pace attack boasted names of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav.
The reserves featured Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Arzan Nagwaswalla and Abhimanyu Easwaran.
