SS Das appointed as Indian Women’s Cricket batting coach

Former Indian opener SS Das has been appointed as the batting coach of the Indian Women’s team. The 43-year-old Shiv Sunder Das will now travel England where the Women’s team are scheduled to play 1 Test, 3 ODIs and T20Is.

Shiv Sunder Das is with National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and had been the head coach of India A and Emerging Women’s sides in 2019-20. Current players like Deepti Sharma, Priya Punia, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma played under him during that period.

It was told that the recommendation to appoint Shiv Sunder Das came directly from Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid himself.

SS Das played 23 Tests and 4 ODIs for Team India. He scored 1326 Test runs at an average of 34.89 scoring 2 centuries and 9 half centuries for his country.

Former coach WV Raman commended that SS Das will be a good addition to the current set up!

The current coaching staff comprises of Ramesh Powar as the head coach, SS Das as batting coach and Abhay Sharma as the fielding coach. Rajkuvardevi Gaikwad, former Chief Selector of Baroda, has been made manager of the side.
