CPL 2021 T20 tournament dates confirmed

The 2021 edition of Hero Caribbean Premier League is set to get underway on 28 August with the final scheduled on 19 September. CPL 2021 will begin 4 days after the end of scheduled home series featuring South Africa, Australia and Pakistan.

This year’s tournament will consist of 33 matches. The venue for all the matches will be Warner Park in St Kitts & Nevis. This follows the successful strategic plan of staging the Hero CPL in Trinidad & Tobago in 2020 where the matches took place at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad and Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.

In 2020 the tournament had a combined viewership of 523 million, an increase of 67% on 2019  with record value delivered to sponsors and commercial partners. Trinbago Knight Riders were invincible, winning all the matches last edition.

“It is really exciting to have the tournament window for 2021 confirmed and I would like to thank the St Kitts & Nevis government for agreeing to host this year’s event. We would also like to extend our thanks to Cricket West Indies for helping us create this window in a busy summer of cricket for them. We are looking forward to once again successfully staging the Hero CPL in 2021.”, said Pete Russell, Hero CPL’s COO.

This year’s tournament will bring the curtains down on a packed home calendar for West Indies which is set to host South Africa (2 Tests and 5 T20Is), Australia (5 T20Is and 3 ODIs) and Pakistan (5 T20Is and 2 Tests) across various islands.

The tournament is in to its 9th year and had a total of 7 teams play in it so far. Antigua Hawksbills which played in the first 2 seasons went defunct. The current teams in the tournament are Trinbago Knight Riders, Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallwahs, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and St Lucia Zouks.
