Kane Williamson needs more time to return for SRH

SRH went in with out their trump card Kane Williamson in their first match of IPL 2021 against KKR. The Orange Army lost the match by 10 runs and quite evidently missed the serious skills of the New Zealand batsman.

Coach Trevor Bayliss revealed that the reason behind opting Jonny Bairstow over Kane Williamson was the New Zealand batsman needed more time to get match fit. He also mentioned that Williamson would walk in straight to the team when ever he is ready.

.”We just felt that Kane needed a little bit of extra time to get match fit and a little bit more time in the nets. He would have played in place of Jonny Bairstow obviously if that had occurred. But we aren’t too perturbed about that, Jonny has been in form recently in white-ball cricket here in India. Kane will obviously come into calculations as the tournament unfolds.”, Bayliss said after the match against KKR.

Ever since his debut in the 2015 season, Kane Williamson amassed 1619 runs in 53 matches at an average of 39.48. He scored 735 runs in his captaincy stint for the Sunrisers in 2018, thus winning the orange cap that year.

Williamson’s contribution was quite essential last season where he scored 317 runs at an average of 45.28 which helped Sunrisers seal their playoff berth. His knock against RCB in the playoffs was absolute masterpiece as he helped the team over the finish line when the odds were looking against them.

Sunrisers will be hoping to see the return of the Kiwi batsman as he forms a very crucial piece in the Sunrisers playoff ambitions.
