The Australian all-rounder arrived India on April 3 and tested negative for COVID-19 at that time. His 2nd test on April 7 came out positive. He is currently asymptomatic and is in isolation at a designated medical facility. He is in constant touch with the medical team and is being monitored as per the BCCI protocols.

Royal Challengers Bangalore made a official statement on social media announcing the situation:

Sams was traded to RCB this season from Delhi Capitals along with Harshal Patel. The 28-year-old all-rounder had a remarkable Big Bash League season with Sydney Thunder franchise.

Cricketers Axar Patel, Nitish Rana and Devdutt Padikkal tested positive and were sidelined in to quarantine ahead of the marquee tournament. Nitish Rana joined back the team after testing negative eventually.

Meanwhile Padikkal came out negative in the latest round of testing and has joined the team back in the bubble on Wednesday, April 7.

RCB will take on Mumbai Indians in the tourney opener on 9th April 2021 at Chennai.
