Axar Patel tests positive for COVID-19

Delhi Capitals face a serious blow days before the IPL 2021 event as their ace-allrounder Axar Patel tested positive for COVID-19.

Axar who joined the team in Mumbai with a negative report on March 28, tested positive in the second test taken. He has been taken to the designated medical care facility to take care of the situation.

In other reports CSK franchise CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that a Chennai Super Kings member also tested positive and was put under isolation.

Axar Patel scored 117 runs and picked 9 wickets in the 2020 edition of IPL and was one of the team’s crucial players. His economy rate of 6.41 choked opponents. He also posed a strike rate of 137.64 with the bat.

Delhi already lost their captain Shreyas Iyer for a good part of the tournament with partial shoulder dislocation as the franchise appointed Rishabh Pant to take up the duties.

Delhi take on Chennai Super Kings on 10th April at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Mumbai Cricket Association denied reports that multiple ground staff tested positive amidst reports doing circles.
