Anrich Nortje tests positive for COVID-19
Delhi Capitals’ Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje tested positive for COVID-19 while in quarantine. The pacer who flew in to India along with fellow paceman Kagiso Rabada, is asymptomatic at the moment as he awaits further results.
As per reports Nortje tested negative on his arrival in India and seemed to have contracted the virus during quarantine.
This comes as a big blow for Delhi Capitals who have already been under the pump after their ace all-rounder Axar Patel tested positive early on.
Nortje had a remarkable debut season in IPL picking 22 wickets in 16 matches he played for the Delhi franchise. He was the fourth highest wicket taker in the IPL 2020 edition. He along with Kagiso Rabada formed a great pace attack for the Capitals last season.
Nortje is not the first cricketer to test positive for the novel coronavirus this season. Axar Patel, Devdutt Padikkal, Daniel Sams and Nitish Rana were among the players who tested positive early on.
Any player who tests positive needs to first isolate for at least 10 days, and then have two negative reports before joining the team.
It was told that there is now a sperate bio-bubble for ground staff and curators.
