Prithvi Shaw breaks Kohli & Dhoni record to help Mumbai to enter semifinals of Vijay Hazare Trophy!

Mumbai skipper Prithvi Shaw has led his team in to the semi final of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 with a dominating 9 wicket win over Jaydev Unadakat led Saurashtra – Thanks to the destructive knock by the captain himself.


On Tuesday, the Mumbai lad played a sensational knock in a run chase scoring 185 in 123 balls smashing 21 fours and 7 sixes at Palam A Stadium, Delhi. This is now the third century for him in this competition and now holds record for highest List A score by Any individual in a run chase.


After winning the toss and batting first, Saurashtra managed to get a competitive total of 284 with the help of a finishing innings from Samarth Vyas 90*(71) and Chirag Jani 53*(38).

Chasing 285 to win, Mumbai got a mammoth opening stand of 238 in 34.5 overs when Yashasvi Jaiswal 75 (105) got dismissed by Jaydev Undakat. Later skipper Prithvi Shaw was joined by Aditya Tare 20(24) and both batsmen finished the game for Mumbai in the 42nd over of the innings. Captain Shaw remained unbeaten on 185 in 123 balls with the help of 21 Fours & 7 Sixes. Shaw registered a double century 3 innings ago against Puducherry!


Mumbai will now be facing Karnataka while Gujarat will play against UP on 11th of March at Dehli the semi finals of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021.

The Record

Prithvi Shaw’s score of 185 not out is now the List A highest score by any Indian batsman in a succesful run chase. It beats the joint highest record held by MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. MS Dhoni registered 183 not out in a match against Sri Lanka in Jaipur in 2005. Virat Kohli acored 183 in an Asian Cup match against Pakistan to help India chase down 330 runs!

Shaw has currently scored 589 runs (437 balls) in 6 Vijay Hazare Trophy matches so far at an average of 196.33. He is the third top run getter in the tourney behind Karnataka openers Devdutt Padikkal (673) and Ravikumar Samarth (605)
