Ravindra Jadeja selection status for England series

Indian all rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the ongoing Test series against England. Jadeja who dislocated his thumb during the Sydney Test against Australia could not take part in the fourth final Test at Gabba, Brisbane. He was then sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for ‘further management of his injury’ after consultation with a hand specialist in Sydney.

The 32 year old all rounder was expected to be fit and ready for the 3rd and 4th Tests at Motera but it is understood he is yet to gain his 100 percent.

With Jadeja not fit and Shahbaz Nadeem not doing well so well in the first Test, the team might look in to chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav or all rounder Axar Patel who is racing against time to get fit for the 2nd Test.

Team India captain Virat Kohli hinted on a possible opportunity for Kuldeep Yadav to bring in variety to the bowling attack which he expressed as one dimensional.

“There are no regrets whatsoever on that decision. Moving forward, we will think of the combinations which bring us variety as a bowling attack, and not one dimensional, turning away from the bat.” said the Indian captain on query regarding Kuldeep.

Kuldeep Yadav has been in bio-secure bubble for almost six months and played just 5 IPL games in the UAE and played just one ODI in the Australia tour. He last played a Test 2 years ago at Sydney in January 2019 where he picked a five wicket haul to his name.
