This cricketer wants to challenge Yuzvendra Chahal at Chess
We all know about the chess prowess of Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. He is a former national U-12 chess champion, and has represented the country at the World Youth Chess Championships. He is also listed on the World Chess Federation (FIDE) website.
Now it’s the turn of another leg spinner to battle out the game of chess with Yuzvendra Chahal. It is none other than the New Zealand leggie Ish Sodhi.
Sodhi and Chahal have faced off in the battle of chess during the 2017 India v New Zealand series with the Indian leggie coming on top. Both the cricketers are now in for online battles – as they look out to rack their brains in a game of chess.
Sodhi during 2017 limited over series against India
“We found out Chahal was an Indian chess champion when he was younger. So I talked to him about it and kind of challenged him. It hasn’t really worked out in my favour so far,” Sodhi said as reported by stuff.co.nz.
“We played two games and it’s fair to say he hammered me. I didn’t expect him to be as cunning as what he was. I was always on the defensive. It was pretty funny for everyone.” Sodhi said.
We wish Ish Sodhi a better turn of events in his fresh chess escapades against the Indian leggie!
