T Natarajan gets heroic welcome on chariot ride back home
T Natarajan who traveled with Team India as a net bowler returned home as a proud national cricketer whose performances impacted in Team India’s wins. He was greeted to a grand welcome at his village Chinnappampatti.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer made his name in IPL 2020 as a yorker specialist before getting selected for the tour of Australia as a net bowler. T Natarajan went on to become the first Indian cricketer to make his debut in all 3 formats on a tour.
The pacer got a hero’s welcome back home in Salem where he was taken on a chariot ride. Upon reaching his native village Chinnappampatti in Salem district , Natarajan was welcome by a huge crowd with dhols and shehnais in a traditional South Indian fashion. He then stepped on to a charot which moved through the huge crowd cheering for their local hero.
Natarajan was seen following the COVID protocol with mask and gloves on as huge crowd was cheering and whistling for their local boy.
T Natarajan played 1 ODI, 3 T20Is and 1 Test in the tour of Australia – resulting in 4 wins for India out of his 5 appearances.
