AUS ODI Squad: Aaron Finch (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey , Pat Cummins (vc), Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Moises Henriques, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Daniel Sams, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa

IND ODI Squad: Virat Kohli (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Mayank Agarwal, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur

Fantasy XI:

Batsmen: David Warner (c), Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Marnus Labuschagne

WK Batsman: KL Rahul (vc)

All Rounders: Marcus Stoinis

Bowlers: Yuzvendra Chahal, Pat Cummins, Mohammed Shami, Mitchell Starc

Given the batting potential of David Warner and KL Rahul – am going with them as captain and vice-captain to start with. David Warner has 3 centuries to his name at SCG, which is more than any player in both squads. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli scored just 36 runs in 5 innings he played at an average of 9.00 and strike rate of 52.94. This dismal show made me conscious in choosing him as the captain of the team.

Marcus Stoinis is a huge X-factor in the team. If your instincts say he should be captain or vice captain, just go for it!

Bowling wise I went with slog over specialists Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Indian pacer Mohammed Shami. I have a feeling Australia will play out Jasprit Bumrah and that would increase chances of getting wickets for other bowlers especially Mohammed Shami and Yuzvendra Chahal. Hence the inclusions.

Batting wise I went Australia heavy as it is the first ODI and familiarity of conditions for first time ODI batsmen from India in Australia could be a issue. Despite of averaging less than 10 at SCG, I picked Virat Kohli as he is a champion batsman and as a captain he must be determined to better his record at the ground. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are the all rounders you may consider, as both can strike big on their day. Hardik Pandya’s bowling capability is a big question mark since injury which has made me reconsider his spot in my team.

Probable XIs:

Australia: Aaron Finch (c), David Warner, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood

India: Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli (c), Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah
