Top wicket taker from each nation in WTC

New Zealand clinched the inaugural edition of ICC World Test Championship by beating India by 8 wickets. Only 2 spinners feature in the Top 10 wicket takers list in the inaugural ICC WTC – Ravichandran Ashwin (71) and Nathan Lyon (56).

A total of 5 bowlers picked over 50 wickets in the inaugural World Test Championship in the form of R Ashwin, Pat Cummins, Stuart Broad, Tim Southee and Nathan Lyon.

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin topped the wicket takers list with 71 scalps in 26 innings (14 Tests) at an average of 20.33 with a best of 7/145. He picked 4 five wicket hauls. The next highest wicket taker for India was Mohammed Shami with 40 wickets.

Australia – Pat Cummins – 70 wickets

Aussie pacer Pat Cummins topped his country’s wicket taking list with 70 wickets in 28 innings (14 Tests). His recorded the best of 5-28 and picked the wickets at an average of 21.02. Cummins registered just 1 fifer in WTC. The next best for Australia was Nathan Lyon with 56 wickets.

England pacer Stuart Broad recorded 69 wickets for his team in 32 innings (17 Tests) at an average of 20.08. He recorded the best of 6-31 and had 2 fifers to his name. Both Jofra Archer and Jack Leach have picked 40 wickets and are next highest in the list for England.

New Zealand – Tim Southee – 56 wickets

Right-arm-pacer Tim Southee picked 56 wickets for the Blackcaps in 22 innings (11 Tests) at an average of 20.82. He had 3 five wicket hauls to his name with a best of 5-32. The next best for New Zealand is Kyle Jamieson who picked 43 wickets in just 7 Tests.

Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje topped the wicket taking list for his country in WTC with 47 wickets in 21 innings (12 Tests). Nortje recorded 3 fifers with a best of 6-56. He got his wickets at an average of 28.10. The next best for South Africa in the tournament is Kagiso Rabada with 37 wickets in 10 Tests.

The next best for Pakistan in the tourney is leggie Yasir Shah with 32 wickets in 10 Tests at an average of 44.21.
