Team India for the ODI series in West Indies announced

BCCI announced a 16-member Team India ODI squad for the three match ODI series in West Indies. Shikhar Dhawan who led India on the tour of Sri Lanka last year, will lead the team in the Caribbean. Ravindra Jadeja will don the role of vice-captain for the series. The notable misses in the squad are Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami.

The squad sees the re-entry of Shubhman Gill in ODI cricket since the tour of Australia in 2020. Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are the wicket keeping options for Team India while Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh forming the pace battery.

Shikhar Dhawan (C), Ravindra Jadeja (VC), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh.

The spin bowling options in the team are Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal and Deepak Hooda.

India’s tour of the West Indies and USA begins with the ODI leg in Trinidad starting July 22. They will subsequently play five T20Is against the two-time world champions, in Trinidad, St Kitts and Lauderhill (Florida) with the tour finishing with the two T20Is in the USA on August 6 and 7.
