CSK vs DC, Match 55 – IPL 2022 Report: Chennai Super Kings completely blew away Delhi Capitals at DY Patil Sports Academy. A total domination in batting, bowling and fielding departments!
After being put to bat, CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway put on a 110-run stand in 11 overs to give CSK a solid start. Devon Conway who smacked a scintillating 87 was severe on Delhi’s premier spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Conway also put a 59 run-stand for the second wicket with Shivam Dube who replaced Ravindra Jadeja this match. Khaleel Ahmed picked 2 wickets and conceded 28 runs in his 4 overs spell while other Delhi bowlers leaked heavily. Anrich Nortje was also amongst wickets – he picked 3 wickets but conceded 42 runs.
MS Dhoni walked in with 2.5 overs remaining and slammed 21* in just 8 balls to power CSK over the 200-mark. Chennai Super Kings put 208 runs on board at the end of 20 overs.
Delhi Capitals tried yet another opening combo in the absence of Prithvi Shaw – this time David Warner opener with Srikar Bharat. Bharat fell early in the second and Warner stepped on the accelerator hitting 2 sixes and a four before being trapped LBW trying to reverse hit Maheesh Theekshana.
Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant kept the show going as they stepped up on the gas to propel the run rate to nearly 10 runs per over. Moeen Ali was introduced in to the attack and he removed Marsh, Pant and Ripal Patel in a span of 14 balls to take air out of DC batting order.
No one could keep the momentum going as CSK bowled out DC for 117 runs and clinched a big win! Dwayne Bravo who returned this match in place of Dwaine Pretorius got the final 2 wickets of the match to give a net run rate push to CSK. Bravo’s wickets included his former CSK team mate Shardul Thakur and Khaleel Ahmed.
