Team India Test and T20I squads announced – Umran Malik picked!

Team India announced T20I and Test squads for the home series against South Africa and rescheduled Test against England respectively. The 18-member T20I squad will be led by KL Rahul while the 17-member Test squad will be led by Rohit Sharma.

Rishabh is named the vice-captain for the T20I series against South Africa while KL Rahul will be Rohit Sharma’s deputy in the Test against England. India is leading the Test series 2-1 with one match to go.

Pacer Umran Malik earned his maiden national call up in the T20I squad while Hardik Pandya returned to the T20I fold. Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi are nmed as the spinners for the T20I series.

Ajinkya Rahane who was a part of Team India for the series against England last year – didn’t make the cut this time round while Cheteshwar Pujara who displayed brilliant form for Sussex in the ongoing County Championship made it to the squad.

The rescheduled Test will be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 1st, 2022.

The T20I series will begin on June 9th in New Delhi with the final match scheduled on 19th June in Bengaluru.
