Shane Warne passes away aged 52

In yet another shocking news coming from Australia – legendary leg spinner SHANE WARNE passed away due to a suspected heart attack at the age of 52.

The former Australian leg spinner was once named as one of Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Century, claimed 708 Test wickets in a career spanning from 1992 to 2007. Warne also picked 293 ODI wickets at an average of 25.73, conceding just 4.25 runs per over.

Warne represented Australia in 145 tests and 194 ODI matches and was a part of 1996 World Cup runners and 1999 World Cup winners’ team of Australia.

Shane Warne has the designation of picking 37 five wicket hauls in Test cricket and had achieved 10 wickets in a match on 10 occasions.

Shane Warne had scored 3154 test runs at an average of 17.32 with a high score of 99. This is a record for the most number of Test runs with out a century. Warney also scored 1018 ODI runs at an average of 13.05 with a high score of 55 (his only ODI half century).

Shane Warne had an influence in T20 cricket as well when he led Rajasthan Royals to a title win in the inaugural edition of Indian Premier League. Warne also played for Melbourne Stars in Big Bash League. He picked 70 T20 wickets at an average of 26.61 with a decent economy rate of 7.22 with a best of 4-22 to his name.

According to a brief statement given to Fox News by Warne’s management, he passed away in Thailand of a suspected heart attack.

“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” the statement read.

“The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.”

Earlier in the day we had a shocking news in the form of death of another iconic Aussie cricketer Rod Marsh who also suffered a heart attack and passed away at the age of 74.
