No-ball controversy: Rishabh Pant fined 100% of his match fee

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was fined 100 per cent of his match fee for his final over altercation regarding a no ball decision that went against the batter Rovman Powell in the match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. Pant admitted to the “Level 2 offence” under Article 2.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct and “accepted the sanction.”

Assistant coach Pravin Amre was handed a one-match ban for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Amre was also fined 100 per cent of his match fee. Amre was sent on to the field to pass the msessage to the umpires who have already made their decision regarding the waist high full toss.

IPL statement – Handed a one-match ban, Amre too “admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.”

Apart from these two, pacer Shardul Thakur was penalized 50 per cent of his match fee for his involvement in the altercation.

Thakur also accepted the sanction for the “Level 2 offence under Article 2.8” of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.

The chain of events began when Obed McCoy bowled a full toss and Rovman Powell and he put that in to the stands. The height of delivery seemed questionable and the batsman at the noon-striker’s end, Kuldeep Yadav gestured to the umpire suggesting to check for a possible no-ball. Despite numerous attempts from the Delhi camp, the umpires stood their ground saying the delivery was legal.
