Netherlands vs West Indies, 1st ODI: Shai Hope shines!
West Indies clinched the first ODI against Netherlands by 7 wickets (DLS). The match was reduced to 45 overs per match. 27-year-old Indian born all-rounder Teja Nidamanuru strucks a half-century on International debut.
Netherlands scored 240/7 in 45 overs. The Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method target was set to 247 in 45 overs.
Windies openers Shai Hope and Shamarh Brooks gave the team a brilliant start to the chase. The duo put on 120-run stand for the opening wicket. Brooks departed for a well made 60. Logan van Beek removed Brooks and Nkrumah Bonner in back-to-back deliveries to bring Netherlands back in to the game. Captain Nicholas Pooran didn’t last long as he was trapped in front by Aryan Dutt.
West Indies needed 114 more runs to win in 111 balls at the loss of Pooran. Brandon King walked in to bat at No.5. He put on an unbeaten stand of 116-runs with Hope to take West Indies home to a comfortable win. King scored his maiden half-century while Shai Hope recorded his 11th ODI century!
