Deandra Dottin powers Supernovas to title win
World Boss Deandra Dottin scored 62 runs off 44 balls with the help of just 1 four but 4 sixes to power Supernovas to 165 runs in their full quota of overs in the finals of Women’s T20 Challenge 2022. Dottin bowled 4 overs and picked the wickets of Shafali Verma and Kate Cross at crucial junctures of the match. She also delivered a maiden over.
Chasing 166 to win, Velocity were reduced to 64/5 in 11 overs and it seemed a easy win for Supernovas, but Laura Wolvaardt had other ideas. The Proteas batter smacked an unbeaten 65 off 40 balls powered by 5 fours and 3 sixes to bring the team close to the target. Simran Bahadur’s 20* off 10 partnered with Wolvaardt scoring 44-runs off 3.1 overs for the 9th wicket stand.
Velocity needed 17 runs to win off the final over. Sophie Ecclestone bowled the last over and conceded six off the first ball reducing the equation to 11 to win off 5 balls.
The over went for: 6-1-1lb-2-1-1 – A brilliant comeback by Sophie Ecclestone putting her experience to play. 12 runs came from the final over and Supernovas clinched their third title.
