LSG vs GT – IPL 2022 Report: Titans qualify for playoffs!

LSG vs GT, Match 57 – IPL 2022 Report: Gujarat Titans became the first ever team in IPL 2022 to qualify for the playoffs. Earlier captain Haridk Pandya elect to bat first against Lucknow Super Giants. LSG captain KL Rahul said he wanted to bowl.

Mohsin Khan was impressive again as he removed the in-form Wriddhiman Saha in the powerplay. Matthew Wade was picked this match in the place of Lockie Ferguson. He walked in to bat at No.3. He hit 2 boundaries before being caught behind off Avesh Khan.

Shubman Gill was the only batsman who showed some substance. David Miller joined Gill after the exit of captain Pandya for 11 runs (caught behind off Avesh Khan) which reduced GT to 51/3 in 9.1 overs. Miller and Gill put on a 52-run stand in 6.5 overs.

Gill brought his 14th IPL half-century in 42 balls. He combined with Rahul Tewatia to add 41 runs in the last four overs. Tewatia hit 3 boundaries in the final over off Jason Holder to help Gujarat Titans to 144-4 in 20 overs. Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 63.

LSG’s chase was not off to a ideal start. They lost openers and Karan Sharma with in the powerplay as they were reduced to 33/3 in 5.5 overs. After powerplay, the spinners tormented the Lucknow batting order. Leg spinner Rashid Khan picked four wickets while debutant Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore picked 2 wickets.

Lucknow were bowled out for 82 runs in 13.5 overs – Deepak Hooda top scored with 27 runs. Wicket keeper Wriddhiman Saha affected 2 catches, 2 stumpings and one run out! Mohammed Shami was absolutely miserly in his 3 overs – conceding just 5 runs – he picked the big wicket of KL Rahul for the second time in this edition.
