LSG vs RCB – IPL 2022 Report: Captain Faf inspires a win!

LSG vs RCB – Match 18 – IPL 2022 Report: Royal Challengers Bangalore climbed to No.2 spot in the IPL points table after a convincing win against Lucknow Super Giants.

Earlier RCB were off to a shaky start with Dushmantha Chameera removing Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli in back-to-back deliveries in the first over of the match. Maxwell counter attacked as captain Faf steadied the innings. Maxwell departed for 23 powered by a strike rate of 209.09.

Krunal Pandya and Jason Holder removed Glenn Maxwell and Suyash Prabhudessai respectively which reduced RCB to 62/4. Shahbaz Ahmed put a 70-run stand for the fifth wicket with captain du Plessis in 8 overs to put RCB in an advantageous position.

Faf smashed a 64-ball 96 and missed out on his first ever IPL ton by 4 runs in the final over bowled by Jason Holder. Holder conceded just 4 runs in the final over of RCB innings. Royal Challengers scored 181-6 in their allotted overs.

Lucknow Super Giants lost Quinton de Kock early in the chase to a Josh Hazlewood beauty. Hazlewood struck again in the powerplay to remove Manish Pandey reducing LSG to 33-2 in 5 overs.

Krunal Pandya walked in at no.4 and started the counter attack. After a 31-run stand in 3 overs, Harshal Patel struck to remove KL Rahul for 30 – thanks to the appeal by Virat Kohli who noticed an edge. Krunal top scored for the team with 42 runs but there was never a strong partnership going as RCB bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals.

Wanindu Hasaranga had a forgettable day conceding 20 runs in 2 overs but it was Josh Hazlewood who rose to the occasion once again. Hazlewood picked 2 more wickets in backend that of Ayush Badoni and Marcus Stoinis to seal the deal for RCB.
