Pakistan T20 World Cup Updated– 3 changes made
Pakistan Cricket team has made 3 changes to their initial T20 World Cup squad. They drafted in Fakhar Zaman, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Haider Ali in place of Azam Khan, Mohammad Hasnain and Khushdil Shah. Kushdil Shah has been moved to the reserves.
The decision came after recent spike in form from the cricketers in the domestic T20 tournament – National T20 Cup.
Haider Ali is the current top run getter in the ongoing National T20 Cup – he scored over 300 runs in 8 innings including 3 half centuries. Sarfaraz Ahmed has accumulated 200 runs in 7 innings .
“After reviewing player performances in the highly competitive National T20 and in consultation with the team management, we have decided to include Haider Ali, Fakhar Zaman and Sarfaraz Ahmed in the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. The three in-form players bring with them a wealth of experience and talent and provide further stability, balance and strength to the side.” chief selector Muhammad Wasim said.
Pakistan T20 World Cup Squad:
Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice captain), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wicket keeper), Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicket keeper), Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shoaib Malik (replacement for Sohaib Maqsood).
Traveling reserves – Khushdil Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani and Usman Qadir.
Meanwhile, Pakistan suffered a blow with Shoaib Maqsood who suffered a lower back issue. The team awaits the medical reports on the cricketer who is in the process of recovery. Maqsood, originally part of the 15, had MRI scans done for his back following a match on October 6 and subsequently missed the game the next day.
UPDATE: Shoaib Malik replaced Sohaib Maqsood in T20 World Cup Squad
Pakistan, who are in Group 2 in the Super 12, begin their T20 World Cup campaign with the game against India on October 24.
