Team India announce T20 World Cup squad

Team India announced their squad for the upcoming edition of T20 World Cup on Tuesday, 7th September. The 15 member squad will be led by Virat Kohli with Rohit Sharma as his deputy.

Three reserves in the form of Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer have been named to travel along with the squad.

In other news, MS Dhoni has been named the team mentor for the T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma (vice captain), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Deepak Chahar, Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami

India are placed under Group 2 – which has Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan and 2 qualifying countries.

The main stage of the tournament will begin on October 23 when Australia will face South Africa at Sheikh Zayed Stadium at Abu Dhabi.

India will begin their World Cup campaign on 24th October 2021, when they face arch rivals Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium at Dubai.

The qualifying stage of T20 World Cup will kick off on October 17 when Oman will face Papua New Guinea at Al Amerat Cricket Ground at Oman.
