Suryakumar Yadav out of IPL 2022

Mumbai Indians face a big blow in the form of Suryakumar Yadav’s injury. The Indian batsman is ruled out of the entire tournament due to a left forearm muscle injury which he sustained during the clash against Gujarat Titans on May 6. A replacement is yet to be named.

Suryakumar Yadav is a key player in Mumbai Indians set up and is one of the few players who looked in good touch this season with the bat. The 31-year-old scored 303 runs in 8 matches at an average of 43.29, powered by a strike rate of 145.67. He recorded three half-centuries with a best of 68*. He is the second highest run-getter for the Mumbai franchise.

Suryakumar missed MI’s initial two matches as he was recovering from another hand injury.

As per reports Suryakumar Yadav can miss at least for 4 weeks and is likely to miss a few matches in the T20I series against South Africa at home from June 9 to 19 after the IPL ends on May 29.

“Suryakumar Yadav has sustained a muscle strain on the left fore arm and has been ruled out for the season. He has been advised to rest, in consultation with the BCCI medical team,” the franchise said in a statement.

MI had a troubled start to their IPL 2022 campaign after suffering eight consecutive losses in the opening eight matches. They have, however, won two on the bounce but have been eliminated from the race to the playoffs.
